This may be the worst movie I have ever seen. I’m used to movies having one dimensional characters playing stereotypical roles, that happens pretty often. But this movie actually tries to portray itself as being feminist (???), and it fails miserably. It uses every stereotype in the book, including but not limited to: fiery Latina who’s accent is used for comical relief, grumpy husband who’s entire life is controlled by his wife, the controlling and nagging girlfriend, the prideful girl boss, the macho Neanderthal athlete, the stubborn/jaded workaholic lady, and the scruffy rough around the edges white man who shows her how to love. Not to mention the takeaway at the end of this violently heteronormative movie is that women may be “sensitive, jealous, nagging, crazy, and dependent on men, but hey. That’s what makes them female.”
