It's an amazing book- an autobiography as well as a travelogue. Conversion of Mohammad Asad from Judaism to Islam was the phenomenon which led me to read this book. It's a blend of spirituality as well as sensuousness in terms of description of colours and shades of middle east. Sometimes,we find ourselves roaming with a journalist describing the facts and sometimes with a nature poet writing poetry in prose.
