I am sorry, I never liked this film, nor am I a fan of Kubrick's "I just escaped from a mental institution and they are letting me direct a movie" style. It is adapted from several Clarke short stories (not a fan of his either) and boy does it show. Long stretches of nothing happening and unnecessary unending camera shots to fill out a film that could have been 90 minutes or less. Yet it seems to make the top of the lists all the time. I honestly believe that it does because even people who haven't seen it will say it is the best because that is what people expect to hear.
