I think everyone has this so wrong. Nora has lived her life in fear, we later see fear shown as regrets. It’s the fear of living, she never gave herself the opportunity to live for fear/risk of failing. She was taught at an early age to compete so she knew what winning and losing meant. The midnight library taught her the meaning of living which has nothing to do with winning or losing.
Her depression had nothing to do with her regrets. She was sad and out of hope for choosing not to hope and dream. She was an existing affliction, not knowing how to move forward nor how to understand her past. From her dialogue it seems like she didn’t regret anything she just saw things as they were and was unhappy with them.
Until she was faced with death did she beg for her life.
I love this book. She is a character within all of us that comes up stronger or lesser, but she always shows up to ask why.
