I'd never heard of this film, but watched it because that amazing Irish actor, James Nesbitt played Jack, and I'll watch Nesbitt in anything, he's that good. Really got into the Martin Sheen character, Tom Avery, quite a mixed and rather disagreeable man. I learned so much about the Camino, and felt each actor became their character. I'd also never heard of the Camino de Santiago, so that made the background and the long journey on foot exciting. . Found each character engrossing: Joost, the Dutchman, the interesting blond woman, especially intriguing, and of course the Irish writer with nothing to write until he joins the trio. The musical score amazing, and so beautiful. I've never been to Spain, I'm sure to go there soon because of what the walking pilgrims saw, so interesting to see those cathedrals, so intricately designed and worn from so long ago. As writer and director, and acting a bit part in the film, Emilio Estevez won my respect because of this film through his sensitivity for his craft.
