This the certainly the best film musical ever made. Except for "Moses Supposes" all the songs were from ten to twenty years old when the film was made. The difference made here was the musical transposition from flapper-bounce to effortless romanticism. As Cinema it is an exemplary film. For this reason, Francois Truffaut and Alain Resnais were frequent ,frame by frame, viewers. This goes for me too. I have watched it at least thirty times
