I first reviewed this book for the Oxford Times. I found it to be a thoroughly convincing indictment of psychotherapy. Any would-be psychotherapist, such as Masson, was required to undergo psychotherapy himself. I don't know if this is still the case, but Masson documents how this requirement was abused by his therapist.

Though I favor science over spirituality, I found the film profound and highly original. Which is odd, because when I first saw just the 2nd half of the film I found it merely interesting. The film raises questions we all must ask ourselves but never find conclusive answers to. And how many films try to answer the question "How did the eye evolve from eyelessness?"
