I’ve never enjoyed a film less. It’s a beautiful terrible movie.

This movie is trash for several reasons inside AND outside of the film, especially for what Dr. Seuss stood for, this film did what Hollywood does best--glamorize and commercialize. His message was clearly muddled with environment threatening car product placements, and a message that just shrugs at whatever was set up in the beginning. What a hot steaming pile of sh--

The best part about this movie, besides Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci, is the end. This movie felt I clicked a kid's channel on Youtube and let it go on Autoplay; a long and unnecessary eyesore. Just read the book, it gets straight to the point, and the characters motives actually make sense.

This was an incredibly emotional watch. I had to watch it in parts and it was just a fantastic show, but emotionally taxing. And that is what it takes to tell a story like this, about the seediness of Hollywood, and misogyny in that time period and about how fame turns its artists into victims. With great performances from Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange, and it was a great Hollywood story that any film fan needs to see.

It seems the people who don’t like this movie seem to hate the idea that it’s set in Nazi-Germany, and that’s the setting. It doesn’t glamorize Nazis or racism, just a story set in that time period that happens to be a love story. Yes, while it’s not breaking any boundaries or telling a true story, it’s a narrative that needs to be seen. A very beautiful movie, great acting and a heart breaking end. It’s good to see black Germans be included in the conversation of this time because many movies seem to leave that out, that blacks also faced persecution. Great film, another great performance by George MacKay and Amandla Stenberg.

This really is a good show with brilliant acting and good cinematography. My small issue with the series is having them meet so early on in the series. What could have been a great chase of cat and mouse, it started to get hyperrealistic after that point and the assasin became less terrifying. Besides that it’s a great show where you find yourself rooting for both sides and loving the chemistry of the cast on camera.

Palo Alto is a bleak and beautiful movie about someone's life. And like life, it doesn't have an ending or a beautiful conclusion, but a continuation. Reviews seem to share the same criticism of "dur eNdinG pOiNtLesS", and in turn, miss the point. Life doesn't wrap up with a bow. Not everyone gets an arc in the movie or a pretty bow to wrap it in. Like the book, it's a series of characters like the characters of life, some people change for the better, some people self destruct and never change. And life goes on. (You don't need the book to know this though...)

Critics really missed the mark on this movie ( I mean really, just scroll). This movie is HYPER-realism. It's blunt and to the bone. There is no theorizing or "movie explanation" needed. Just a world where the 'fappening' is treated like 'The Happening' (and yes, I mean the movie, all the hate included). There are many things I could change about the movie, and it is not the hyperrealism, just the pacing. The climax happens too late in the movie, with the resolution getting a quick second to appear before it goes back to being a stylized piece again. I didn't know the actresses before the move, I recognized Bill Skarsdard and Abra (from music), but that was about it. And this movie made me curious about the main casts line of work because they were so believable and charming. I love weirdly, styled movies, and no one can complain this doesn't have substance because, well, it tells you. To your face.

If you like weirdly disturbing movies or uniquely dark movies in both style, substance and execution, give this movie a watch. No spoilers here. Don't even watch the trailers, just watch the movie blind and you'll find you enjoy it as much as I did. I couldn't name a poor performance, everyone acted beautifully, but Olivia REALLY shines. I've found the movies and shows she's usually in to be lackluster, but here, this character works to her strength. Anton Yelchin was a beautiful addition to the movie. Just go watch it.

I missed seeing Owen Wilson in a movie, and thinking, "Wow, I might see something entertaining,". Nowadays, I think, "Wow, no thanks,". I had checked out this movie years ago after it disappeared from the constant adverts on Youtube, and nothing came from it. But at that point, it wasn't in theatres. Years later, it appears as a VOD with my cable company. So I watched it and oh how I watched it. It took me a couple days to get through because it was so mindless and boring--it was like a Youtube ad that you couldn't skip. And like those ads, its all for the benefit of Google. If you want to see anything entertaining, read any of the Google scandals going on. Or just go watch Paddington 2 or Thoroughbreds (two opposites you can enjoy).
