I have loved the Assassin’s Creed series since the very first game. I’ve played all of them now, with the exception of the phone games. For me, Origins and Odyssey have been by far the worst in the series, at least where gameplay is concerned. They don’t feel like Assassin’s Creed. The stories are good, but everything that made Assassin’s Creed great feels like it got removed.
The optional objectives are gone, the unique ways to infiltrate and assassinate have been removed, odyssey removed a vast majority of hiding places, you can’t even hide in hay bales anymore. The characters/voice acting doesn’t have the emotion and passion previous games had. It’s so far removed from what Assassin’s Creed was that I doubt I can stomach any future games. This one was painful and tedious to get through for me.
If this was an individual game, without the Assassin’s Creed label, it would get a 7 out of 10. With that label I come to expect a certain feel that I just didn’t get from the last 2 games, so I’m giving it 3 out of 10.
