I thought there would never be another true-to-greatness live action adaption after the "Rurouni Kenshin" movies, but here we are with "One Piece". One piece (pun intended) of advice: go watch it!
There are definitely some changes from the anime version, but those are within acceptable and reasonable limits. I personally think that those changes are necessary and logical so they can cram the pertinent elements and story arcs from the 1000+ anime episodes into just the reasonable length for a live action adaptation. I'm hoping the first season becomes largely successful so they can continue with more.
To those who have not watched the anime version, you may miss some Easter eggs here and there, but it's not a major deterrent to enjoy the great storytelling this live action series has to offer. You might actually enjoy it more because you don't have a point of comparison.
Props to all the actors, director, producers, costume and set designers, and the rest of the crew who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this project a great gift to the OP fans. This certainly did not disappoint -- (straw) hats off, hands down.
