Fifteen minutes in I was absolutely certain that this was not my cup of tea. But I was persuaded to keep watching and I'm so glad I did. This series is extremely entertaining, thanks largely to some pretty clever plotting. If there's a second series, I'll be watching.

Series 1 and Series 2 of Designated Survivor were old-fashioned political thrillers of the sort than can be watchable, depending on the quality of writing. Series 3, by contrast, was a complete and utter trainwreck. If you have purple hair, multiple nose and ear piercings, and consider yourself to be gender-fluid, you will be delighted by the abundance of far-left causes that are taken up by the purportedly 'independent' Kirkman administration as it fights for re-election against the evil white supremacists who apparently infest the Republican Party. If that's not you, you should give Series 3 a wide berth. It's trash.

Loved this movie - sure, it's cheesy, but that's the price you have to pay to get a movie with a happy ending. And a true story to boot.

Abel Turner must be one of the most obnoxious characters in an American movie ever - I enjoyed the film, but probably mainly because he ends up dead and the good guys survive.

I liked this movie a lot. Although it appears to have made on a very low budget, this may actually have been an advantage, as the producers were forced to make the most of the wonderful rural scenery. It's a pity that, with the lockdown still in force, I'm forbidden from visiting any of these sorts of towns for real. It would be so nice to be able to go somewhere like 'Kawarra' again! But coercing people into taking the murder jab is the priority these days.

My pick for the best Australian series I've seen on Netflix, perhaps the best I've seen anywhere. Up there with 'Outer Banks' as one of the Netflix series I've enjoyed most in recent years. At a time when most American-made series are becoming dreary and unwatchable, it was an enormous relief to come across these two story-driven masterpieces.

'Alone' belongs to the genre of films about women who've been abducted and imprisoned by strangers, but are finally able to escape. Interestingly, in this age of 'diversity,' it seems literally the only genre where the chief characters - victim and captor - are always white. It's always a white woman stalked and captured by a white man. It's never a black man and an Asian woman or a Latino woman and an Indian man. So while this film was entertaining enough, especially towards the end, one has to be aware of the sinister agenda at play, which seems to be to make white women fear men of their own race as their chief source of danger.

I enjoyed this series, although it took me a little time to adjust to the slower-than-usual pace. Interest in the story builds very gradually as bit by bit the full implications of the plot are spelled out. My only real complaint is that everything was wrapped up extremely quickly in the final episode, a tell-tale sign that they were expecting to get a second series but were unable to do so.

A two-hour 16 movie that feels about two hours and 15 too long. I spent the entire time waiting for it to end.
