If I was being generous this movie is 3 stars at best. The movie is extremely overrated as some people in the 1980s believe this movie is just as awesome as traditional classic such as the back to the future series. It is not even close to it.
The only thing I liked about the film as the flying scenes. It was incredible that they were able to do it in the 90s when they didn't have advanced technology.
However the characterization was shambolic. They gave Maverick(Tom Cruise)hardly any character and made him a womanizer. When Goose dies, Maverick keeps on smiling as if nothing happened to him.
There is nothing interesting going on during the majority of the movie and only gets interesting during the final 30 minutes.
The movie is only getting a lot of praise because it has Tom Cruise, the flying scenes and the great soundtracks.

A very good book that you should read. It's plot is very interesting, the character development is well written, the descriptive language is well spoken. This is a good book for the ages. The two girls say "Come and read with us".
