Firstly let me say that if you haven't watched the TV show watching this movie will be a complete waste of your time. As my girlfriend just found out.
I am really disappointed with this film, this had the potential to be a really good finale for the breaking bad universe. The first part of this movie was going in the right direction. It then gets so slow and uneventful and ends in the most boring and predictable fashion possible. It is almost like they just gave up about half way through when they were writing this script.
Secondly (spoiler alert) this film is entirely about a small period in Jessie's life following escaping the nazis. It does not attempt to explain any questions you might have about any of the other characters in BB. The "cameos" of past characters (except for skinny Pete and badger) are mostly filler. Walt's cameo near the end was IMO pretty rubbish. There is also no real sense of suspense in the end. Jessie is supposedly the most wanted man in the state but that feeling is only conveyed in the start of the movie. The scene with skinny Pete getting interrogated by the DEA as shown in the trailer isn't even in the movie and indeed there is no attempt to even explore the governments reaction to the apparent murder of 2 federal agents.
I am convinced that the plot for this movie was a story arc that was preposed as a alternative ending to the TV show. This was then drawn out into this movie to keep milking the BB cash cow. It really feels like an overly long episode of BB. Some people might say that's a good thing, I am not one of those people. As a stand alone movie this does a pretty poor job of trying to draw the viewer in. If you have watched the TV show maybe this movie if worth watching, but I don't think you are missing out on anything really by not seeing this movie.
