Let me preface this by saying I’m very critical and I thought the movie was good and Gaga’s performance was EXCELLENT. Infinitely better then A Star is Born. Where the movie loses points for me is the bad accents. Gaga’s at times was good, other times it wasn’t even there and sometimes it sounded Russian. As for the rest of the actors, most didn’t even have accents or anything close to what I would consider an Italian accent (Pacino included!) so the film’s “authenticity” shall we say, lost points there for me. It would have really made a difference if they got that part right in my opinion. I also felt the movie at times didn’t properly tell the whole story- especially once I googled stuff afterwards. But it was good enough to warrant a watch in the theaters in my opinion. Gaga is definitely the star of the film and she deserves accolades for this one! I would give it a solid 3.5/5.
