I thought over all they did a great job! The most distracting thing at first was the forced bi-racial couple of Jim Dear and Darling. I mean was that really necessary?
Disney continues to do these very forced changes that for sure in this case made no sense. A bi-racial couple would not have been so easily accepted in that time period. I understand wanting to include everyone, but having many black cast members through out would have been enough. They also made it a point to do the same in the Italian restaurant scene. A black couple instead of a bi-racial couple would have made more sense. If they are going to include bi-racial couples they should at least make it believable.
I almost turned it off in the beginning as it was so distractingly forced. But I am glad I stuck with it. Over all they did a good job. Although Jock was still cute, I really do not understand the decision to make him a her. But that was not as distracting as the above mentioned due to it being an adorable dog.
In the end,I applaud Disney for making sure they included everyone in their new films. But it is important to look at the time lines in which you are telling your story. When you force an idea into a period piece it takes away some of the enjoyment, due to a nagging distraction thought process on why someone thought it was a good idea to make such a silly change. When surely there could have been a better way to achieve your goal that was not so forced.
We will be watching classic Lady and The Tramp again tomorrow. I can't wait!
P.S. Why didn't he call Lady Pieg?
