I don't hate the game but it's probably the most forgettable racing experience I've had in years. The driving is very arcady with mild sim elements. All race types are the same - actually I don't really know what differs from one to another except for the few rock bouncing things which are pretty fun. The rest is all the same as far as I can tell.
The highlight of the game was the player created content which had some trackmania-esque layouts. Getting to test your skills on those very creative challenges was fun, though somewhat blunted by the underwhelming driving experience.
Other than that, there's good variety in terms of tracks and vehicles, the graphics are really good. The vehicle damage is only visual and has no effect on gameplay. There's different points and money systems which are highly forgettable - drive, get money and points (I think different types of points but I seriously didn't pay attention), unlocks tons of items each race. There is no car customization except for paint.
I have to admit that I bought the game expecting something similar to the other dirt games, and was served this. It's probably my bad for not doing more research. Overall, if you want Arcade and easy to grab fun, it's probably a good pick. If you want a rally experience, that's not it. Depends on what you like.
