As a Manga reader it’s been an absolute delight to see this series adapted, by Trigger studio to boot!! The jaw dropping gorgeous art coupled with Ryoko Kui’s expert level world building makes for a most delicious dish of a series!! The artists did an amazing job making the action snappy and energetic and the food tantalizingly real. There’s still so much yet to be explored in season 2 yet to come, including a dip into some philosophical topic’s involving food itself, and the pursuit of one’s desires. Those of you who are just watching the anime are in for a treat!! The plot intensity will NOT stop climbing from here, and the one word that I’ll summarize the ending with is “satisfying”.

Feels like all the good reviews on google are written by desperate PR agents or tasteless trolls. The show is bad, and if you’ve watched it, it almost feels bad on purpose. It doesn’t just butcher the Scooby Doo cast, it’s straight up character assassination at its sloppiest, like an obese ninja with a chainsaw. The art is the only saving grace for this adaptation, and only really for the first half. You can feel the animators slowly lose their will to live from seeing the first episode vs. the last. I think the designs could have worked, and I could handle the race swaps until the ceaseless, uncreative race jokes came into play and never left. Every twist and reveal feels like an a*s pull because the foreshadowing is nonexistent and the execution is as bad as it’s dialogue. Some of the things that happen could never happen in reality because god wouldn’t allow it, such as a room of teenagers suddenly eating furniture and wall paint. This is something that happens in this show. None of the cast members besides maybe Daphne feel like they could be actual people because of the sheer number of illogical and irrational choices they make for the sake of dragging the plot on. Velma is the centre of this show’s universe in the worst way possible. Every main character is at some point attracted to her. She is constantly described in flattering ways with constant and blatant evidence of the opposite. There is no way they made this show with the intent on presenting any of its characters in a positive or flattering light. This is probably the worst animated show to possibly exist. At least the worst I’ve had the displeasure of watching.
