From farmboy to Five Star General to President of the United States of America, the story of Dwight Eisenhower has fascinated people the world over for more than six decades. While other narratives focus on his military career and/or his tenure as president, Alan Sears and Craig Osteen have prepared a wonderful book that takes a look at a side of Eisenhower that few, if any biographers explore, that of his religious faith.
The Soul Of An American President The Untold Story of Dwight D. Eisenhower's faith has done just that. I recieved an advance copy from Baker Publishing Group. The book presents a concise (203 pages) picture of his life and events that would shape his character and reveal to him his personal need for wisdom far greater than his own.
The authors note that while Eisenhower was not often vocal about his faith, it is obvious to even the most casual observer that his strong belief in the God of the Bible directed his decision making. No doubt this observance is one of the factors which led the authors to write this book. It is a wonderful narrative, and I heartily recommend it.
