Nicholas Sparks has an unique ability to bring tears of joy. The Notebook sails in extremely well drafted human emotions. The story is extremely cliched. More like a typical Bollywood romantic drama with a surprisingly uncharacteristic happy ending. However, presentation and the acting makes this movie great. The Notebook will remain as one of my top romantic film picks forever.

There are few movies that somehow show your emotions are not unique. Falling in Love is not just a movie but an exploration of human emotions. Watching this movie, once again I have realised how brilliant these actors are. They make things so very real. This is surely an all time favourite.

Love is in a transition between the mind and heart. Who wins finally? Is it mind or the heart? Pratim D. Gupta mesmerised me with his unique story telling skills in Maacher Jhol. Love Aaj Kal Porshu is like a fresh breath of air in Bengali Film Scene. The presentation is smart and extremely well crafted with simplicity. The story is complex but presented simply and very well supported by the lead pair Arjun and Madhumita. The second half of the movie is as stunning as its first half. Like Macher Jhol, I loved the atypical ending, perhaps a signature of Pratim. Arindom’s music was soothing to ears. The use of the song “tomay notun kore pabo bole” was fantastic. Go and watch it on big screen. You will surely fall in love again - I guarantee that!

I wish Bengali directors would come out of Rabindranath and Satyajit Ray. Sincerely needed fresh thoughts. Anirban is the best thing that happened to Bengali Film industry in the last 10 years or so. Unfortunately the film is made by Director and if you have a pathetic script, it is difficult for any actor to pull a film up alone. Sad to see one of my most favourite directors making such films! Injustice to Satyajit Ray, Rabindranath Tagore and more than anything, Aparna Sen herself.

Hard hitting and extremely raw! This is a good movie with a few directorial and editorial failure. I think the director in his attempt to criticise the world around has gone little haywire. The making of the movie had a Basu Bhattacharya feel in a raw format. It needs matured heart to accept such movie! Thank God Netflix has its own censorship!
