In the early scenes of the film we're shown a British soldier running down a street in Dunkirk. No sign of damage done to the buildings. All looked pristine with no attempt to make anything look as it would have done in the forties. Later we have a panning shot along the the sea front of the town and what do we see but modern street lighting. Beach scenes seem to be lacking soldiers, we glimpse just a few lines of them. If you want to see a film that really depicts the reality of Dunkirk at that time watch Atonement. Oh and a spitfire or a hurricane could not land on a beach.
