While it isn't the best movie out there, it isn't the worst. What ruined it was the execution, from not considering fan reaction to the trailers to sending it out unfinished. Those things are not expected from a professional film production. While theatre may be forgiving of a bad premiere on the stage, cinema is unforgiving of sending out an unfinished product that isn't picture perfect. Artistic direction aside, this was basically the musical, though attempting to present it through CGI. Not the best execution, but not as bad as so many make it out to be. It's just not something people are used to seeing at the movies, at least not in a movie with no real plot to follow.
