I was a bit hesitant going into this movie after reading a good number of negative reviews. My fears were quickly put to rest, however. Beetlejuice 2 was quite a zany, over the top, and fun experience. Tons of references to the original film. Michael Keaton still has the magic after all these years. I can’t quite give it five stars though, as the original is a classic that will never be topped. But this was a well done effort that builds on the first film in very innovative and amusing ways.

I went into this movie last night with high hopes despite some of the negative reviews I’ve been hearing. I must say it was just ok at best. It was extremely hard to keep up with all the dialogue and understand what was going on half the time. Way too much focus on the political at the expense of the science and history of the bomb itself. I also wasn’t happy with the way the film keep jumping around from one point in time to another. The only part I liked was the Trinity test itself but the rest of the movie was meh. Lots of good actors and a stellar performance from Cillian Murphy though. I just wanted something more coherent and engaging.
