So Joker just hit theaters with a whopping amount of money being brought in for the studio during the first weekend.
I don't know where to start when talking about this movie, so let's just start with the details. Joker is a movie about a psychopath in the making. It shows how a man suffering from a mental illness was transformed into the clown prince of crime that we all know now as the infamous joker. He has an uncontrollable condition of laughing at the wrong moments.
The next point that I am going to make is about the reality of this movie. I believe that this movie was a call for gun violence bans, because it shows that in the wrong hands a gun can be very powerful. This was also a reality call in the sense that mental illness patients are not cared for as much as we should be caring for them, in other words say someone has physical damage everyone's gathering around them and supporting them but when someone has a mental illness they are isolated away from most people.
Next up was the violence in this movie. Now the movie wasn't heavy on it but when it was there, there was a lot of blood. What made it worse was when the music playing made it feel suspenseful.
After that, there was the feeling you felt when watching this movie. I am not going to lie to you this is a depressing movie, it is sad and he gets constantly beat up whether it's mentally or physically. It is sad and disheartening to see.
Next is the director and actors. I believe Todd Phillips did a terrific job when directing this movie, he made it fit in with the comic book origins but still maintained a point of gun violence control. In my opinion he chose a stellar cast. Joaquin Phoenix was one of the best joker actors and, in my opinion, I thought he was one of the best actors, I thought he was at or better than Heath Ledger's portrayal of the ionic character. Another actor that was good in this was Robert De Niro when he represented a character that acted like the late night host Johnny Carson, Robert was outstanding in this movie.
A movie that was like this. One of the movies that they brought in to portray this movie, Taxi Driver had the same gritty feel. Don't get me wrong both movies are really good but I believe joker was better.
Finally my opinion of it. I believe anyone who just likes a good suspense movie should go watch this. It had a really good plot (not easy to follow, because joker imagines stuff), it had a massive play twists and it was just an overall good movie I would rate it a 10/10, best movie of the year. I am excited to see what the future holds for this version of the joker.
Spoiler alert for the next section…
My theory of what the ending meant. I believe that the joker was telling the story of the movie to the therapist at the end. He believed that he was the "Savior" that everyone needed, to bring laughter and joy to the world. In an allusion I believe Gotham was a Dynamite stick and joker was the fuse.
