A comedically and narratively experienced batch of producers and writers (not least among whom is Will Ferrell) and a theatrically experienced batch of actresses and actors team up to produce a well written, unflinching, and nuanced (if contrived) picture of grief and loss and the variety of experience engendered therein whilst still delivering television of immense quality warranting the highest level of viewer engagement. Thematically and narratively complex and unapologetically dark, this show, if given the viewer’s full attention, will make full use of all of it and then some while never becoming too tiring or hard to follow. Without discussing the events of the show themselves, the interplay and parallelism of character, chronology, and theme work to narrative perfection. A good show to get into while it is still only ten episodes long.
