Nancy Connors

Frances McDormand never disappoints. Without much dialogue, she conveys a wide range of emotions through facial expressions and subtle gestures. The landscape and the characters themselves tell this eye-opening story of life as a nomad where friendships and minimalistic lifestyles abound.

Although the female performances were strong, I found this movie a big disappointment. Most annoying was the horrible, loud sound track that had me covering my ears at times. I detested the bizarre whistling sound that crescendoed twice in a long piercing manner to alert the audience to key plot twists. The story dragged and the abrupt ending was a relief.
