This is a fun game that is easy to lose time to. It has a certain kind of feel to it. Like it's a tv documentary you're watching set within a tv channel from Grand Theft Auto 5. It has that kitchy over the top with a hint of reality feel to it. It's colorful and attentive.
The RPG mechanics make the game feel more personalized, allowing you to tailor evolve your shark based on how you prefer to play with different gear sets lending themselves to different styles of play. I struggled with the first 10 levels or so because I hadn't accumulated anything, but once I started gathering pieces it really made the game swim (figuratively and literally) for me.
I also appreciated the approach to taking your shark from pup to to elder. The old Jaws Unleashed game had you start as a super shark already, so there wasn't much room for "growth" there. You just went right to the eating. But with Man Eater you start as a small and humble bull shark pup and have to eat and grow your way towards being fierce.
I haven't finished it yet as I've only been sneaking in short play sessions as time allows, but the time I have spent with it has been very fun and very intense.
