I was ordained a Glenmary Priest in 1968, a year after over 100 Sisters left the Order. I always had great admiration for the Glenmary Sisters from afar. After reading this compelling book I am embarrassed to say I had no idea what grief and pain these Sister's were going through as they simply tried (with no success) to get a modified habit approved through the Roman bureaucracy. What a humiliating process. If you want an insight as to why more and more women have given up on the male dominated church this book will help you understand why.

I could not put it down. I was ordained the same time as James Carroll and left the active priesthood at the same time as he did.He and I both were working in Campus Ministry. My experience of that tumultuous time mirrored James experience every step of the way. Beautifully written.
