Here is my review of master
Vijay - the best for Vijay to happen is trying to reduce his over/the top hero. After Atlee And ARR trying to capitalise stardom, LK has tried to use the performer. He is SUPER FIT and looks refreshing even while playing a drunkard. He has allowed VJS steal the show at many places, a small kid play an important scene while he sits and watches, cries, struggles, shows the pain while beaten up in fights / things which we don’t see in mass commercial movies. Good work by Vijay. 👍🏻
VJS - he is definitely in his comfort zone and used his subtle dialogue delivery with words which he can only speak. We have seen him play similar roles in CCV, 96, Vikram vedha and many more. For the build up created for the character could have used more. Wanted more of his scenes.
Rest of character - Das has used his space better and could have used him more too, just for his voice.
Rest - ok. Rather than adding value to the scene, they make us play the name-the-person game. They come and vanish. Ok.
Technical - Ani at his comfort zone too. It elevates where ever needed. Camera and Art work is good. Stunts are cool but pre-climax truck chase is a let down.
LK- he should have been definitely under pressure to handle mass hero as his 3rd movie.
👍🏻 showing Vijay differently, strong villain and story setting, 👍🏻 Handling large crowds almost in every scene and 👍🏻 making a Classy looking gang movie,
👍🏻 writing of kutty stories - they are definitely fun.
👎🏻 repeated scenes like villain calling hero and threatening to kill his loved ones - thuppaki, Poojai, veeram and host of movies have similar scenes.
👍🏻 Lethargic and unengaging continuity. Scenes are good and when roped together it falls flat. Pace is ok - that’s mode of story telling and he wanted to emphasis the punch of Villian and make audience feel fear of hero getting one. But that happens after 2 hours 45 minutes 😴😫
Overall - can watch in Prime at home, relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. If theatre was 100% then it has enough moments to enjoy.
Master - could have prepared a bit more.
