As a fan of the Dolittle books when I was in elementary school, this movie met and exceeded my expectations. It gave the animals personality unlike some talking animal movies. It gave us an adventure. It gave us a reminder of what it felt like to be a kid again and remember when we used to believe we could talk to animals.
