They don't make em' like this any more; then again, no one made a movie like C.B. DeMille. Spills, chills, big top thrills. James Stewart in in clown face the whole movie and it's the reason he agreed to do it. Betty Hutton is her effervescent best and a very young Charleton Heston is believable as the boss of the circus. I saw this movie when it came out and I was 10 years old. I was transfixed, mesmerized and agreed that it was the greatest show on earth. Several plot lines are involved, envy, jealousy and a great train wreck (for the time) top off lots of circus and great movie making. It took best picture of the year and DeMille's only academy award. I just watched it again for only the 2d time 68 years later and I loved it.
