I thoroughly enjoyed the books, and when the TV series started, I decided to start from the first book as a sort of read a long. I want expecting it to be a 1 to 1 adaptation and I understand that, as with any adaptation, there will be creative decisions that you don't always agree with. With that said, this show feels like someone gave the director the tldr notes of the first book and they were like, I like some of these plot points but I can do better! In the second half of the season, instead of following the story as it was in the book, they decided to create their own story with their own problems that had to be solved. In doing so, the season has ended with a completely different ending to the book and honestly, I can't see how the can follow the books when they decided to kill of characters that are important to the story. My tldr is this, this TV show is as bad as the final season of Game of thrones. Do not watch it!
