Haruki Murakami
Men Without Women
I liked the muted and subtle style of the prose that is typical of Haruki Murakami. I didn't find these stories melancholic due to fluidity in the narration. All the stories take the reader to a dream like space. Murakami takes the reader with him to one of his smoky bars, reverberating with the Beatles music and begins his narrative. These seven stories are a good read. The endings of each story is unusual, protagonists are surreal and one finds what one is looking for in this book.
