I love animation, but I'm really turned off by stop motion animation (including cgi pretending to be stop motion style, like this one). I went because my husband wanted to take the kids to a movie and this was the only family-friendly movie out that they hadn't seen.
The movie itself was okay. A little slapstick to make the kids laugh, a few over-the-kids'-heads jokes for the adults, and decent acting from the voice actors. The story wasn't very developed (but, again, it's a kids movie) and I was so distracted and turned off by the animation style, I couldn't get into the movie, regardless. It just put me off. Why would you make his hair look like yarn and the human faces look like resin, then make the scenery and their clothing so amazingly realistic? I don't understand the logic.
