I believe comparing MK with DC and marvel is 100% wrong because those are being developed as comics for more than 60 years so writing a script is much easier. To be honest making a movie from a old video game is a bad idea because basically the lore doesn't exist and you have to make something up which leads to plot holes and rushes. In the other hand they had to put all fav characters to make hardcore fans happy, Its just compilated stuff. Making shows and movies from newer games always going to work because they care much more about the directing and lore and ... like cyberpunk and death stranding. Finally i hope thay come back with a second movie which spends more time explaining characters and developing they story.
