I thought the film could of been a lot better, I wouldn't want to watch it again but maybe I'm just being over critical. I didn't watch any trailers so I had no idea about the plot apart from obviously knowing it related to the trenches in the 1st world war. I was also aware that Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch were starring in it so I thought it would be well worth watching. The movie plot was similar to Saving Private Ryan but in no way as good. Colin Firth was in the movie for about 5 minutes at the beginning where he gave an order to a soldier to take a friend and go and warn 1600 men from a trap further up the line in another trench and the soldiers brother would also be killed if they didn't succeed in the mission. So off the two soldiers went, crossing enemy lines where one of the soldiers gets killed so his friend had to carry on alone to try and save his dead friends brother along with the 1600 men. The lone soldier did complete the mission and saved the 1600 men from certain death by getting the message to the other commander Benedict Cumberbatch who was also only in the movie for about 5 minutes at the end. Although the film was based on true life events and out of respect the soldiers were heroes. I just found it to be boring and depressing watching one man being constantly shot at crawling through muck, shite and over dead bodies to get a message to another regiment.
