I really wanted to like this movie, but it didn't live up to the hype. The first Wonder Woman movie by Patty Jenkins had a much better story with a smooth, yet exciting flow about it. The story in WW84 just seemed fractured. The beginning showed promise with Diana as a little girl entering a competition with the other warrior women on the hidden island. She learned a powerful lesson after taking a short cut (cheating,) and being taken out of the games by her mother. She was then told there is no honor in cheating, and that set up a coherent message that you would think would've played out throughout the rest of the film, but no . I'm not even sure after watching the whole thing what the theme was, or what the moral of the story was. WW84 just seemed rushed with no real sense of direction, I'm thinking they wrote it as they went along. Thankfully the acting of Gal Gadot and Pedro Pascal's made the movie watchable. I now I have to ask myself with Patty Jenkins getting to direct a StarWars movie.....is this really the direction Disney wants to go after the dumpster fire that the sequel trilogy was?!? Disney, you are just starting to get the star wars fans back with the Mandalorian, do you really want to throw your investment back into the sewers?
