Bapsi wrote the crow eaters as an allegory of resourcefulness of the widely overlooked and enigmatic Parsi community. She creates archetype characters who represent the nouveau riche of the subcontinent that flourished under colonial rule. Freddy, the protagonist of the novel, is also a prototype of an immoral but highly successful class. He portrays all the qualities necessary to achieve something monetarily in the modern world. But the true genius of Bapsi is not limited to the representation of post-capitalism society, she also presents a sympathetic case for her community. She uses satire and irony while jumping from one event to another in such a manner that you often laugh out loud. I can easily rate this intelligently comical novel a 4/5

Firas had to tackle the monolith of writing the history of a religion that dates back to 600 AD, and he did so brilliantly. Lost Islamic history doesn't take a deep dive into historical events, nor does it point out the spectrum of events giving birth to a critical juncture, nor does it delve into controversies. Firas simply moves from one historical occurrence to another while stating the widely accepted explanation. He also seems to be a staunch advocate of pan-Islamism and proves its effectiveness in historical context. I personally rate this book 5/5.

A simple straight kind of novel with no lasting one liners... But still a great mystery novel .... No one can possibly predict the twist it was going to take...... recommended for a slow summer afternoon or a winter evening...
