I just finished watching this movie and I have to say that I usually don’t listen to the rotten tomatoe scores cause they’re always very harsh on otherwise decent movies. In this case though I think they are right on point or if anything a little generous. As much as the special effects are visually stimulating and the action scenes were semi-exciting the movie itself was just a flop in my opinion. The reason why is because in the last movies in this X-men timeline they had a nice mix of the angst and hardship scenes but were nicely balanced by fun lighthearted scenes such as the Quicksilver slow motion scenes. This movie had all of the angst and none of the fun, it was a non-stop depression fest. In my opinion this movie could’ve been substantially improved if they just added a little comic relief somewhere, anywhere for that matter. All in all this is very disappointing because I was really looking forward to this movie but as mentioned previously it just didn’t stack up to my expectations from the movies prior in this X-men series.
