Props to the director for wringing poignant emotional tone from a truly ridiculous shlocky premise. Many of the moments that went for gravitas actually managed to achieve it - so long as you didn't pause for even a second to contemplate the nonsense involved.
Lively was... Fine. Lovely and emoting all over the place, but she never quite managed to imbue the character with the weight of the age she was supposedly carrying.
