Anybody who compared this movie to "A quiet place" - didn't watch the movie or finish it. I suggest you try watching movies side-by-side before making nasty comments because it's a Netflix film. "A Happening" would actually be a far superior comparison.
A Quiet Place - Sucked
The Happening - Sucked
Bird Box - Did not suck.
I wasn't blown away by the movie, I wouldn't have paid to see it. it was decent to a fault. Sandra B completely nails her role, and had fantastic, griping character development. I'm almost certain people writing these reviews are just reading other peoples reviews and posting how they feel. There's a lady down below who copy-pasted a review claiming it was spot-on. Her and the other reviewer are either lying or are just very harsh critics with inaccurate points being made. this is an 7/10-8/10 movie at most, since it's a Netflix original, it's probably one of the better originals and worth watching if stuck at home with nothing to do.
It's NOT a horror movie. It's a Suspense thriller that's used a theme common among horror films which is: "The world comes to an apocalyptic state" - I think the movie also sends 2 important messages. The first is about appreciating life and finding value in it. The second is a unique spin on people who are insane, hear voices in their head, and likely suicidal. They are the "Normal" people and unaffected by the threat. The film does a great job keeping you on the edge of your seat and created critical thinking throughout. Anybody rating this film under 5 didn't watch the film or walked into it with the WRONG expectation. That's on them.
Stop up-voting Mr Woods Review, because it's not accurate. Telling everyone if we disagree with you, saying we're likely spam bots from Netflix is a joke in itself. Here's an Idea for Mr Woods. When you tear down a film, provide us a movie you've reviewed in it's place that you considered "Excellent".
Script and Dialogue was weak at some points, but nowhere as extreme as described.
