Tracy Geddes – Google

First one of Atwood's I have read. Kind of avoided her due to the dark, post apocalyptic shades of Handmaid's Tale. Not essentially bed time reading. I really enjoyed the split between the years, and the Blind Assassin. Felt it built tension pace by pace. Loved Reenie. The writing is just sumptuous, it's so beautifully done. To me though the end was a bit disappointing. Was it Iris or Laura who went near mad waiting for the lost love? If it was all Iris, then what was even the point of Laura .Maybe no end could've concluded a book this good. Such a talented writer. A Canadian citizen- she should be Dame Atwood.

Dear me. How many copies of this book were sold? It's a painful watch. Same confusion as everyone else. Are we expected to really believe the main character was once a stripper/prostitute and seems to be nipping in and out of both lives with a husband and 2 other children who don't even seem to notice. Why doesn't the photographer go straight to the police once he's discovered the evidence? Didn't he notice the running boy when he took the photos? And throw in a blanking out illness to create a moment of, yawn, drama. Binge watch? I don't care how it ends. I'm off to bed to read some more of 'Death on the Nile'.

Stunning, captivating and moving French masterpiece. I too gave it 5 minutes and ended up watching 3/4 of the episodes through the night and the rest next day. The first episode is one of the most terrifying and tragic i've seen. The plight of women in that period is heart breaking. Slaves to money. Beautifully shot, lovely scenes of Paris. The soundtrack wonderful and appropriate to every scene. Exceptional TV. About time too.
