John Runion

one of the most beautiful films i have ever seen. it reminded me of the reflecting skin, paperhouse and whistle down the wind, but out shines them all.

one of the best lynch films right up there with blue velvet, eraserhead, lost highway.

perfect writing. perfect acting. perfect lighting and direction. this movie goes about it's business in the most peculiar way and goes to emotional places you don't expect and can not predict.

this movie does a great job of creating a small town environment. it does a much better job than the usual horror / slasher film with it's characters. the scenes are very atmospheric. this is much better than any of the friday the 13th films. Lori Hallier is simply GREAT in this. she should have went on to become a major, major star. she had the potential to become more than just the next jamie lee curtis, but she possibly could have become the next meryl streep.

i loved chapter I. i liked chapter II. this film was was 45 minutes - 1 hour too long. it has it's moments, but they are few and far between. other than the character of Mike all of the male characters in the film were annoying. the character of the adult Beverly was bland. references to other films such as john carpenter's the thing, kubrick's adaptation of king's the shining, etc. abound. these references are both fun and at the same time take the viewer out of the movie.

terrifier is a 70's grindhouse movie crossed with an early 80's slasher movie with 21st century flourishes throughout. Jenna Kanell is gorgeous. she is a great actress. she should be the next big star in horror.

the remake is great for about 25 minutes and then totally runs out of gas. no social commentary here either. stick with the romero original.
