Love Hard should've been titled Love Alert after the fictional dating app in the flick or Love Alertly based on the references to Love Actually peppered throughout. Great Asian representation. Glad the flick unpacks the shallowness of the online dating world. Dobrev & Yang have great chemistry! It was funny and kinda deep at the same time! P.S. There were two interesting scenes at the steakhouse and the managed living center that spoke volumes about people and the human desire to connect with others. P.P.s.

Passing is film excellence that may also make way for a new generation of Nella Larsen fans. Passing is well-filmed, produced, written and directed by Rebecca Hall whose own mother hailed from Detroit, MI and whose operatic talents took her to the UK where she became Lady Maria Hall. I wonder why some viewers are so focused on whether the actresses could pass white 100 years ago? I say they could. I take no issue with the casting, which I hope will be rewarded come awards season time. I wonder if Clare's husband suspected she was passing? I do wonder what happened to Clare and the end was a fascinating cliffhanger. Back to the casting, Negga and Thompson are two phenomenal actresses. I doubt the casting of Rashida Jones or Halsey or any other bi-racial actress would've yielded a better treatment in the roles because I found Negga and Thompson's performances riveting and Negga and Thompson are both bi-racial themselves.
