The books are my favourite books of all time. Whilst, no movie or series can ever match how truly amazing the books are, I feel this series is not far off. I can understand why some people may dislike the series, but the subtleties of the characters and the depths and intrigue of the plot have been kept true to the books rather than being converted to a generic Hollywood blockbuster that's all action and explosions and lacking in finer detail. Some of the changes to characters and plots have surprised me, but overall it didn't seem to matter as the tone of the production is so in keeping with the books that these minor plots twists don't distract from the overall narrative. The production looks great with seamless cgi.
