Wanted to give Resurrections 3 stars for its terrible casting misstep of Morpheus… How could the producers not realize replacing Laurence Fishburne would be a huge disappointment for fans…HUGE! It was a glaring distraction throughout the entire movie. Took me out of the story because every time “Morpheus” came on screen I got angry that such a beloved character had been so heartlessly replaced… the flashbacks were of little consolation and underscored that the producers must’ve known they royally messed up, and that if they didn’t give us a little bit of Laurence Fishburne no one would ever watch another Matrix movie. However, the sheer number of flashbacks was also quite distracting from the storyline, so lose-lose. Only gave 4 stars because Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are legends. They deserve to see the story through… they definitely set it up for more, so here’s to hoping the next ones live up to the franchise better.
