I genuinely wanted to enjoy this game, truly. I’m an avid fan of the series; both the original Watch_Dogs and its second installment are two of my favorite games of all time. And when I saw the reveal for Legion, I was excited. I thought the concept was interesting so I was looking forward to a more immersive title. But after having played a decent amount of it so far, I can’t bring myself to enjoy it or even finish it. I tried. I really tried. Whatever this game is, it isn’t Watch Dogs. Sure, the cyberpunk aesthetic is there, it’s got some kind of vibe, but it doesn’t have the heart and soul of the previous two games. It’s like Ubisoft execs gave the team $600 and said make a game. The driving mechanics, well, it’s horrendous. The overall gameplay and combat is sloppy. And even much of cutscene/cinematic aspect feels like it was created on an old 1990’s desktop. Watch the cutscenes from WD2 and this game or even AC Valhalla and you’ll know exactly what I mean. Ubisoft, you could’ve done better. I don’t know what happened or how it happened, but this is devastating.
