The cast was superb Believing the journey with the characters. Such a wonderful story to get lost in. Costumes great, character development excellent. However, having said that, whoever was tracking and blocking the scenes needs work. They made amateur mistakes between scene changes. Like clarys hair around her face.. first it was on the right, then next scene it's on the left. Amateur! Really bad kiss! It was like Jc was f***ing her standing up! It could have been so much better. Much more sensual and deep. Instead it was a cheap imitation of basic lust! Which is not what their relationship. Should have kept it tight on faces and hands, hair, etc. The camera angles and blocking were awful, so amateur. The dialogue skipped important things like why Valentine would want to lie, saying both were his children. Although this could have been the fault of the editors. The blocking of the citadel during the search did not show us the vast space, the timing making it seem very small indeed. The CG was wonderful but the makeup and special effects of the wolves was a joke! The cheesy, seventies plastic teeth and facial expressions during partial change were laughable. Painfully not realistic. As were the actual wolves which didn't even look like real wolves! They could have at least done a strong eye color change and perhaps motion capture for the actors to have muzzles. And the fingers with black painted nails was almost too painful to watch. And where is the blood I would like to know! Nothing when killing all the vampires. Nothing during the beating Luke took. So not believable. And not a hair out of place after violent fighting! And speaking of hair, what's with Alek's Helmut hair? Looked like plastic, sad. The levity was great and allowed the story to stay serious until the silly werewolves which left a bad taste in my mouth. The film left many setup leads for a second film but..no second film. The poor dialogue Yet again, Clary doesn't seem to get how much danger Alek would be in from the Clave if they knew of his love for Jc exceptshe does know since she was told! .She is way too intelligent to have reacted the way she did in the confrontation scene. It was not true to her character , that she felt it was no big deal. Fight scenes were excellent ,choreographed brilliantly. Ultimately all these mistakes add up, taking away the consistency of dark and serious.
