Not sure what the message is here, but it doesn’t seem ideal. Clunky dialogue and clunkier plot. Poorly acted by all. I am not sure what Spike was thinking.

My favorite book of the last five years…and I read a book a week. The characters are unforgettable and three dimensional. Her use of gaming and game design as metaphor is amazing and effortless. I am not into gaming and I loved this book SO MUCH. Going to see the author speak in a couple of weeks. She is masterful with her descriptions and nuanced characterizations. Hoping for a sequel.

Both Lopez and Wilson seemed totally disconnected and unconvinced of both the script and the casting. I was looking forward to a silly and funny formulaic romantic comedy and it wasn’t even that. Lopez and Wilson were so vacant and unfunny. No heart whatsoever and not one laugh. I thought maybe the music would add something, but no such luck. Not one good song. Way too much hype for a feckless movie.
Side note: I was inclined to like this movie because I know people involved with it, but that didn’t help either. I HOPE THEY DO NOT READ THIS. BUT IF YOU DO, should have hired a different director and waited for an overhaul of the script before shooting.
