Pseudo-Documentary by Werner Herzog. Absolute waste of time. Emotional twaddle, lacking in actual fact and substance. Proper trash and undeserving of even a single iota of its hype. THIS IS NOT WHAT DOCUMENTARIES SHOULD BE.

This show is a perfect example of how to ruin a fantastic and terrifying idea for a supernatural mystery. A gripping and intriguing idea gets wasted into a long, drawn out exercise in boredom. These 8 episodes should've been 3 or 4 at most.

Massive, monumental disappointment. I deferred watching it until now, cause I though it would be an amazing movie, but no, it was a waste of w hours. AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME. Mundane, simple minded, cliched beyond belief. I can't imagine why critics loved this movie when it released. Shannon is the very personification of evil, like a villain out of a fairy tale or comic book. No nuance, not subtlety, no believability or implied realism. Why does he go through all the effort to find, track and capture a "river god" only to mindlessly torture the thing? Only in movies of this abysmal quality can a few untrained individuals steal a prized exhibit from a tightly guarded top secret facility. THIS MOVIE IS UTTER GARBAGE - 4/10

slow burn, very well made - but doesn't inspire fantasy or imagination - more psychological/social than fantasy or mystery

Very promising first 1 or 2 episodes. Builds intrigue and mystery. Massive let down as the episodes go by, halfway through Season 1 I was bored and put off.

Season 1 - Really really good Season 2 - Just goes downhill, cliched, drawn out, doesn't hold your attention like the first one does. Also has an unhealthy amount of feminist propaganda
