I'm of an age during which my dad and his brothers all fought in Europe and safely returned home around the time I was born. I read this book many years ago and have no desire to revisit it, but I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in one of the biggest events -- if not the biggest -- our country was ever involved in. As I recall, it was an excellent "page turner" very-well written.
